Frank Wennberg, President & CEO, is a results-oriented senior automotive industry executive with extensive experience in the areas of business development, account management, project execution, operations management and staff development. He is an influential and motivational leader with a proven talent for building cooperative and productive work environments that foster company growth and success.
Frank is a Mechanical Engineer. His career began with Volvo Car Corporation in Olofstrom, Sweden manufacturing Press Automation and Assembly Systems, spending several years in the field on installations, particularly in Germany. Promoted to Designer, he developed design programs and in-house design productivity tools to increase productivity and improve project turnaround timelines.
In 1987 he was transferred to Detroit, Michigan to build a North American presence through the start-up of "Volvo Olofstrom Automation Ltd.", where he was responsible for business development, quality assurance, personnel training and financial operations. He continued building the operations in the Americas at Olofstrom Automation Ltd in Canada, where he managed business sales strategies for all of Americas. In 1996 he accepted the position of President & CEO of Olofstrom Automation Ltd at which point he was responsible for the operations and activities within both the Toronto, Canada and Detroit, Michigan offices, with an annual turnover in excess of US$70 million. When Olofstrom Automation Ltd. was purchased by ABB in 1997, Frank remained as head of the operation, now Vice President & General Manager of ABB Olofstrom Automation, with an increased work portfolio, responsible for all facets of management and the strategic growth of the organization.
In 2001, Frank, once again based out of Detroit, Michigan, managed a US$600 million a year budget and was responsible for ABB Inc.'s Automotive OEM business worldwide, with operational responsibility for Australia, Brazil and Mexico. These responsibilities grew to include ABB's BiW operations in North America with operations in USA and Canada and eventually, as ABB Group Vice President - Global Ford Business, he coordinated the business with local management as well as working closely with customer managers in every region across the globe.
Frank's international experience doesn't stop there. He has lived and worked in many countries and speaks several languages, including English, German, Portuguese, Swedish and Norwegian. He has also devoted much of his free time to develop international relations through his involvement with several non-profit organizations, including:
